Beechmont township

Beechmont Estate is located in Beechmont, a quaint country village featuring an old-style community hall and country markets, between the Lamington Plateau and Tamborine Mountain.

The district takes its name from the white beech trees, once prolific in the area, which first settlers used for timber. The Beechmont district was first occupied by the Yugambeh people before the arrival of these timber cutters in the 1880s.

Today, the pretty town is a popular destination for bushwalkers who travel through on their way to the Binna Burra section of Lamington National Park. It’s also popular for Rosin’s Lookout on top of the ridgeline which offers views over the Numbinbar Valley across to Springbook and Mount Warning. The lookout offers barbeque and picnic facilities and is a launch site for hangliders and paragliders.

Climate

Located on Lamington National Park’s Beechmont plateau approximately 600m above sea level, Beechmont Estate experiences its own microclimate and some of Australia’s most fertile deep red volcanic soil.

The Estate is around six to eight degrees cooler than the Gold Coast with our surroundings adorned with a vibrant tapestry of lush greenery. This idyllic setting invites cozy evenings by the fireplace and unveils a stunningly verdant landscape under the embrace of our sunlit blue skies

Nature at Beechmont Estate

In spring and summer, migrant visitors include Spectacled, Black-faced and White-eared Monarchs, a variety of species of Cuckoos and many more. You may also spy koalas in the Eucalyptus trees along the property’s boundary with the national park.

The Beechmont plateau was largely cleared by loggers in the late 1800s to make way for the dairy industry that flourished on the mountain in the early 1900s. We have since reintroduced some native flora and fauna around the estate, and across the property we have planted thousands of plants that will continue to transform the property over time.

We take action to protect, to restore, and to preserve our environment so future generations can be left in awe like we are every day.
