Our Philosophy

We’re serious about our responsibility to protect, restore, and preserve our environments so future generations can experience the magic too.

Sustainability is core to who we are. Every day we work to reduce our impacts whilst making positive change to leave things better than when we found them.

At Beechmont Estate we are continuously expanding our efforts to tackle these key sustainability issues by focusing on the areas where we think we can have the most impact.

Our Philosophy

Our lodges are located in some of the most precious places in the world. They bring us and our guests joy and leave us in awe every day.

Sustainability in Action

A focus on sustainability and the local environment extends to all facets of Beechmont Estate’s operations including the green building principles that were embedded in the estate’s design and construction.

The build saw the planting of over 6,000 trees, including native plants, to rejuvenate soil biology and the restoration of the once derelict dairy farm using regenerative farming practices.

Solar power currently accounts for 71% of Beechmont Estate’s energy consumption (all energy excluding overnight usage) and any additional energy from the grid is 100% renewable.

The lodge has over 600,000 litres of water storage onsite, with all water used being harvested rainwater.

In our signature restaurant, The Paddock, our culinary team create dishes with a focus on hyper-local and sustainable produce, using this produce from root-to-stem and nose-to-tail. The team also use creative methods to reduce food waste like smoking, curing and fermentation so no produce is discarded.

Our guests are also immersed in our passion for the environment. The Paddock’s menus are curated to educate guests on the provenance of the food they are consuming, and our experiences and activities are centred around environmental education including market garden tours and bushwalking trails.

Reef Keepers Fund

Every day we take positive action to protect and preserve it at our lodges, and through funding from Morris Family Foundation.

For every guest stay at a Morris Escapes luxury lodge, including Beechmont Estate, a donation of $50 per guest stay is made to the Foundation’s Reef Keepers program.

Reef Keepers supports the health of the ocean and the reef by protecting marine ecosystems, reducing ocean pollution, and improving water quality to reduce sediment run-off. Reef Keepers also contributes to a range of reforestation projects including Rainforest Rescue who are working to reforest old cane land in the Daintree.
