REST AND RELAX: Five tips for feeling tops by the time you leave Beechmont Estate

Taking time out for ourselves has never been more important. With Zoom meetings, keeping up with pandemic news and being connected 24/7, taking a break (and we mean a proper longer than five-minute-scrolling-through-social-media-break) can seem a faraway dream.

The Australian Psychology Association says more than 35% of Australians report having a significant level of distress in their lives. With numbers like this, it’s more important than ever to take steps to reduce pressure and improve happiness.

We’ve put together a simple list of five steps to help you manage stress and focus on relaxing while you’re at Beechmont Estate. Lucky for you, we’re experts in stress reduction and rest!

1. Disconnect

Between your laptop, mobile phone and smartwatch keeping you connected, it’s no wonder people are feeling the pinch when they’re expected to be ‘on’ 24/7.

With this in mind, we highly encourage you to switch your devices to ‘do not disturb’, at least for a few hours a day.  Have a chat around the fire, or simply take in the scenery without feeling the need to snap a shot of it to upload to Instagram. Trust us, you’ll be feeling a million times better simply by being present.

2. Take a walk

Moving your body even just a little bit releases feel-good hormones called endorphins. Lamington National Park and Binna Burra serve up a vast menu of walking tracks and hiking trails suited to all fitness levels. Dust off your hiking boots, or chuck on a pair of runners and take a look at what takes your fancy – waterfalls, lookouts or rainforests?

If snacks are as important to you as they are to us – ask us about our gourmet food packs to take along on your wak!

3. Nourish your soul

Getting back to what’s real at Beechmont means we put food and nourishing our bodies at the top of our priority list. What you put in your body has a direct link to how you feel and we’ve made sure our menu has a balance of healthy ingredients to help you feel (and look) your best. That doesn’t mean we skimp on the treats – we just know: good produce means good feelings.

Take a look at our food offering and let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements,

4. Breathe

Even our smartwatches come conditioned with a prompt to breathe, which should be an indication of how important it is to take moment to do just that – breathe! Taking time to slow down and take a few deep breaths will help slow your heart rate and relax your muscles, not to mention the effects on calming your mind.

With plenty of spots at Beechmont to sit, stand or lie down and just breathe – you’ll be so spoilt for choice that you might find yourself doing it more than once!

5. Snooze

Lack of sleep can lead to stress, and stress can lead to lack of sleep. This vicious cycle can seem like a never-ending trap that’s extremely hard to break.

Visiting Beechmont is the perfect time to reset; sink into our plush beds lined with the finest linen, turn off your alarm and simply let yourself sleep for as long as you need. Best of all, you don’t even need to draw the curtains, we’ll do that for you. Your privacy is important to us – we also promise not to wake you unless you ask us to.

If you’re still not convinced – check out our Day Spa for a range of therapies and treatments. Phones aren’t allowed so you’ll have to disconnect and we don’t mind if you fall asleep mid-treatment!
