What’s on at Beechmont for Scenic Rim Eat Local Month

Hungry? You will be by the time you finish this. Scenic Rim Eat Local Month kicks off June 1st for four weeks of events and activities designed to bring the food straight from the farm to you. From farm tours and brewing masterclasses to foraging and fine dining, and now stretching over four weeks for the first time, this food festival truly puts the region on show. Here’s how to make the most of the action without even leaving Beechmont Estate.

Foodie Feast at Beechmont Estate

Executive Chef Simon Furley and his team at The Paddock restaurant are well versed in letting local produce shine, so settle in for an extra special Tastes of The Paddock degustation dinner on Friday June 9th. Taste the region over five-courses, with the likes of house dry aged Butcher Co black Angus sirloin, plus local wine pairings. The outdoor firepits will be heating things up Saturday June 10th at The Paddock Sunset Banquet, where a two-course share-style menu and spiked hot chocolate are on the agenda. Last, but not least, reserve your spot at the Feast amongst the Fields event on Sunday June 11th, where you can get back to nature on the Beechmont Estate fields and peruse hawker-style food stations. Think slow-cooked lamb flatbreads and coal-baked chocolate fondant.

Beechmont Estate’s Masterclass magic

Take your taste buds and your culinary skills to the next level during Scenic Rim Eat Local Month’s Beechmont Estate masterclasses. Chef Furley will get you up to speed with the art of Fireside Fondant, where you’ll whip up your own winter chocolate fondant on the coals, to enjoy with a Hot Toddy. Then there’s the Woodfired Charcuterie masterclass, where you’ll master the art of a charcuterie board, with woodfire baked camembert, hand-rolled crackers and fire-roasted apples.

Beechmont and beyond

If you’re keen to venture beyond the Beechmont Estate grounds, the Scenic Rim Eat Local Month has you covered. There’s a long lunch at the Scenic Rim Farm Shop & Café, gin blending classes at Cauldron’s Distillery, burger and beer picnics, floral tea picking, root crop growing workshops, and the list goes on.
